It is 1864. In Monroe County and elsewhere in Pennsylvania isolated pockets of draft dodgers and deserters are enough of a problem to compel official action. And in 2024 Quiet Valley farm is one of the places where those evading the law and those sent to bring them to compliance will clash, shattering the pastoral calm with gunshots and anger on both sides.
