Welcome, Visitors!

The key to getting the most from a living history is to interact with the folks in the funny clothing.  You can expect a friendly, information-heavy response for any question you might have. At this event, expect the following:

1. Local history, specifically the occupation of Monroe County in 1864 by Union forces sent to round up draft dodgers, deserters and suspected Confederate sympathizers.

2. Civil War military reenactors eager to share the daily life of a soldier, including drill,  what they ate and the realities of military hospitals. 

3. Civil War civilian reenactors eager to share how the war affected everyday life.

4. A variety of 19th Century crafters eager to share how things got done, ranging from making rope to making pickles to dyeing and making clothing.

5. Farm volunteers knowledgeable about everyday life with farm animals and chores.
